Sabarimala Temple is a popular Hindu pilgrimage center located in Kerala. This temple is located at the top of Sabarimala hills in Western Ghats Mountain Ranges. This temple is visited by 40 to 50 million devotees every year from all over the world. Sabarimala is mostly visited during the November to January every year. The main deity of the Sabarimala temple is Manikanda Swamy, was an avatar of Lord Ayyappa. He was the prince of the Pandalam dynasty ruled the region during the 12th century.

Manikanda Swamy:

The main of the rule is only children, men and old age women need to visit the Sabarimala temple. “Some discussion is going on to change the rule”. Ayyappa devotees need to follow 48 days of Virtham (1 mandala). Even though Sabarimala is visited by 40 million people, only 20% of people follow the Virtham (Prasannam) correctly. Ayyappa devotees are allowed to visit the temple with Irumudi, which has coconut with ghee. This gee is used to perform to Nei Abishegam.

Sabarimala Temple Timings:

  • Temple usually opens at 3:00 am and closes at 1:00 pm.
  • Reopens at 3:00 pm and closes by 11:00 pm during Pilgrim Season.

Nei Abishegam Timings:

3:30 am & 7:00 am

8:30 am & 11:00 am

Irumudi Details:

Irumudi to Sabarimala temple needs to follow the color code based on the time the devotee visits the temple. Kanni Swamy (first time to Swamy Ayyappa Temple) need to red color Irumudi, Navy blue color for others till three years. Others can use saffron-colored Irumudi.
