Arupadai Veedu Murugan Temple, also called as six adobes of Lord Murugan in English, is six famous Hindu temples dedicated to lord Murugan. Lord Muruga is a famous Hindu god also called as Tamil Kadavul, Kartikeya, Kanda, Vadivela, etc… Arupadai Veedu temples are located in the State of Tamilnadu. These temples are mentioned in the Tamil sangam literature Thirumurugatrupadai written by Nakkeerar and in Thiruppugazh written by Arunagirinathar.

Lord Murugan was the youngest son of Lord Shiva and Godess Parvati Devi, also younger brother of Lord Ganesha. Valli and Deivayanai are his divine consorts. According to Skanda Purana, the dangerous demon tortured the Devas; they went and complained to Lord Vishnu, Brahma and Shiva. Lord Shiva gave birth to the Kartikeya.

From the younger age, he is very powerful and intelligent. Kartikeya killed the giant Soorapadman and saved devas. Kartikeya married Valli by love and married Deivayanai by winning the war held at Tiruchendur. According to the literature Lord Muruga is the god of mountainous region Kurinji, most of the temple his temple located in the Mountain region.
