Sri Kalahasti Temple was built by the Chola and Vijayanagara kings. It is one of the popular temples in South India located close to Tirupati Tirumala Temple. Sri Kalahasti Temple was famous for Vayu Lingam which represents the Wind (Air). This temple is believed to the site where Kannappa, one of the 63 Saivite Nayanars who was ready to donated his eyes to stop blood flow from the Shiva Linga. Lord Siva stopped him and granted him salvation.
